CHOC Children’s is hosting a holiday toy drive on Saturday, December 20th, from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., in the hospital employee parking lot located at 557 S. Main Street, in Orange.  Community members who would like to remember CHOC patients and families this holiday season are encouraged to participate in the toy drive.  We are unable to accept donations in the main hospital lobby, as has been the practice in previous years.  We ask that ALL holiday donations be delivered to the toy drive as we will have the appropriate resources to intake donations. We ask that donations be sorted and boxed before delivery.

For those unable to participate in the toy drive on December 20th, there are other ways to support CHOC this holiday season:

• Log onto www.amazon.com and search for the “Children’s Hospital of Orange County” wish list. Donations will be shipped directly to CHOC.
• Donations can be dropped off during the month of December at Orange County Harley-Davidson, 8677 Research Drive, in Irvine.
• Donations can be delivered to any of the CHOC community clinics. Please call first to arrange a delivery time.

Due to limited storage space and to ensure a selection of items that are developmentally appropriate for the diverse patient population served by CHOC, donations of gift cards are appreciated. Visa gift cards, or gift cards to stores such as Target, Toys “R” Us, Babies “R” Us, Walmart, Michaels and Barnes & Noble are used by CHOC’s Child Life Specialists to purchase toys, craft supplies, books, DVDs and gifts when needed throughout the year and based on the developmental age and gender of current patients. These items are used as part of distraction techniques and in therapeutic play to help patients cope and adjust to illness and hospitalization.

If your group prefers to purchase toys we ask that you purchase items listed on our wish list only. These are toys that we find most appropriate and popular.

For safety and infection control reasons we are unable to accept any used or handmade items.
