There are many different places around the world where members of the US military can be stationed for months at a time. While each soldier is abroad, they are protecting the things they love at home. But while they’re away, soldiers from every branch of the military are missing things from home. You can help remind them as often as possible that we haven’t forgotten about them while they’re away from home by finding out how to send cards to soldiers.
Knowing how to send cards to soldiers is the first step in doing your part to show our nation’s love and support for the men and women in our armed forces.
Why Send Cards?
When you think about how to send cards to soldiers you may first ask why cards? Cards seem simple with a short poem or quote, and then a signature. Some cards can be funny, some filled with emotion but all of them have a bit of home inside. What also makes cards great for soldiers is that you can leave a short message inside that shows your appreciation. After all, no matter what job we do we always want to know we’re appreciated. But soldiers abroad may not be getting the praise they deserve while working.
What Cards to Send?
It almost doesn’t matter what kind of cards you send, as long as it has some thought behind it. The most important thing to remember is how much they have sacrificed for you to go about your daily routines. Keeping our country safe isn’t a job for everyone, only a select few have what it takes to do this job. When shopping for cards, these are the things you will want to keep in mind. Humorous cards would work great as they will bring a little joy to their time abroad, or maybe something sentimental to show your love and respect, even something that mixes the two would be great.
There will also be an opportunity to write something special in the card before you send it out. Feel free to ask them questions but don’t be afraid to tell them about yourself either. Making the message feel normal is a good idea, something like this is what I’m up to, how about you? How was your day? Questions like those are perfect.
How to Send Cards to Soldiers
Believe it or not, putting your card in an envelope and sending it out in the mail is not the way you will go about sending a letter or card to soldiers abroad. Instead, you will need to employ the help of some special organizations. These organizations know how to send cards to soldiers and do it very often. Organizations include A Million Thanks, Soldier’s Angels and during the holidays, Holidays for Heroes. These organizations will make sure your card makes it to a soldier who needs a reminder of why they’re there. Sending a card doesn’t require a special occasion, it doesn’t need to be for any specific reason, just don’t include glitter or sparkles and food could perish in some locations. Those are the only guidelines you need to follow. Other than that, you have an opportunity to do your part as they do theirs and more.
