Children in Need
Savvy Giving by Design San Diego works to improve the lives for families with children that are dealing with medical issues. There are plenty of children out there in need of help and it is up to us to give that help. Savvy Giving by Design San Diego aims to help children who are in need of something a little different.
These children are children that have had an accident or a disease. Unfortunately, homes aren’t built straight out of the gate for people with any sort of disability. For example, plenty of homes have stairs which a lot of disabled children struggle with or can’t use at all. That is where Savvy Giving comes in to lend a helping hand.

What is Savvy Giving by Design San Diego
Savvy Giving is a charitable organization that improves the home life of families with children who are dealing with medically dark times. The organization has a team of professional interior designers that will come to the home of one of those families and then completely redesign the bedroom and any communal areas that may need upgrading.
The goal is to provide those families with the things they need to live comfortably while also dealing with medical issues. The results are always tremendous, and families walk away with something improved than they could ever imagine. Especially since most of the changes are focused on the child in the family with the medical issues.

Why Interior Design
Home is supposed to be our safe place, the place where we can be the most comfortable and escape the challenges of the world. But children with disabilities often continue to face challenges at home as well. Those challenges come in many different forms, depending on the medical issues the child is facing.
The goal is to design a space for them that is as comfortable and easy to move around in as any of us. This way, they have a safe place to relax and not rely on anyone. Some examples of updates include both hard and soft surfaces that may hold allergens, organic fabrics, and products that are safe for all ages.

About Savvy Giving
Everything beautiful has a scary origin story and Savvy Giving by Design San Diego is no different. Kasey Harvey was a local teen that was diagnosed with cancer in 2014. Susan wanted to help Kasey but all she had was a team of contractors that worked with her on past interior design projects.
The easiest solution was to utilize the skills she had to give Kasey a new room. One that would help make her feel comfortable day after day while dealing with cancer treatments for a full year. Afterward, Susan noticed how absolutely happy Kasey and her family were with the updates to Kasey’s room.
That was when Susan figured out that she wanted to do this more often than not. Susan was able to gain other designers and contractors who were willing to help with this project and they became an official 501(c)(3).
You can get involved by simply donating to the cause which helps them cover the costs of the upgrades. The families don’t have to pay a penny. You can also fundraise for the charity which makes it easier to donate even more all at once.
